“Vabbing” is a viral new trend that encourages women to use their vaginal secretions as a perfume to attract potential mates. So, you do a quick swipe of your lady bits, then dab the “juices” onto your pulse points such as wrists and the sweet spot behind the ears. Then, voila! You’re suddenly irresistible to the opposite sex, and it starts raining dick!
Seriously.
While the idea of using your own secretions as a fragrance may sound odd, there may be some evidence to prove it works, at least for some people.
The Power of Scent
The idea that scent has the power to attract is nothing new. Fragrance has been an important part of the feminine allure for centuries, dating back to when ancient Egyptians used essential oils to make themselves smell more desirable to others. It was the French, however, who started mass-producing perfume in 1190.
Since then, we’ve been scenting ourselves with everything from vanilla to lavender to look and feel sexier. But who knew the secret to smelling irresistible has been, uh, inside us all along?
Ok, that was a horrible joke, but let’s continue.
The History of “Vabbing”
The term “vabbing” is hardly new, even if it’s new to you. Clinical sexologist Shannon Boodram has been talking about it since at least 2019, when she went viral for spilling on the technique that she says makes her feel like “an enchanted goddess with a delicious secret.”
In her book “The Game of Desire,” Boodram says she’s been vabbing for over a decade and admits the results are mixed, though vabbing does provide an extra confidence boost that can go a long way when it comes to attracting a new lover.
While the term “vabbing” has been around for some time, its recent resurgence comes courtesy of TikTokers like jewlieah, who attributes her recent uptick in male attention to vabbing before heading out to the gym or pool.
Can Vaginal Juices Really Smell Good?
Everyone has their own unique scent, and in some cases, it may be attractive to others. In the case of rapper Cardi B, for example, she claims her vagina smells and tastes like horchata, which in all honesty, does sound pretty appealing. Singer and style icon Rihanna is widely known as the best smelling celebrity in the world, with many, MANY other celebs stating that she “smells like heaven.”
Taking it a step further, actress Gwenyth Paltrow says her vagina has such a naturally pleasing aroma that she started selling a candle that smells like it. And people bought it.
So, it only makes sense that vabbing might work, at least for the part of the population that has an inviting natural scent. The question remains, however: is it a matter of being attracted to someone who smells nice or primal instinct driven by pheromones?
Do Pheromones Make Us Feral?
Widely known for her sex education videos on YouTube, Boodham explains that men have used pheromones to attract women since the 19th century. She says men would put handkerchiefs in their armpits for a whole day to soak up their natural scent. Then, when they found a lady they wanted to woo, they would use the sweat-soaked hanky to wipe sweat from her brow or dust off her clothes so she would catch a whiff of his man smell and be naturally drawn to him.
Does it sound gross? A little, but it can’t be any worse than catching a nose full of someone’s Axe Body Spray at the gym, so there’s that.
As far as vabbing is concerned, experts say it’s more effective if you masturbate prior, which might hint that the sex hormones attract suiters because simply put, it makes them think of sex.
So, How Does One “Vab?”
Avid vabbers describe the process as relatively easy. Simply sweep two fingers across the inside of your vagina, getting them wet enough to transfer the scent to the rest of your body. Then, dab your lady juices onto your wrists, chest, and behind your ears.
Just a dab of vab will do ya’ in this case, so there’s no need to turn yourself into a sticky mess before heading out the door. You need just enough to project your scent onto suiters standing close enough to catch your vibe.
Before you vab, ensure you’re clean and freshly masturbated for maximum potency. You can still apply your favorite self-care products as usual, so long as it’s nothing too overpowering.
Is it safe?
Vabbing is perfectly safe, but there are some things you should take into consideration. Always wash your hands before and after because why wouldn’t you? You should also know your STD status before you do it. Obviously, it would be hard to transmit an STD that way, but you should always practice extra care when handling your bodily fluids. Most doctors say it’s not an issue, but better safe than sorry.
And for the love of all that is good on this earth, do not vab during your period.
PLEASE.
So, Does Vabbing Work?
If you ask the people of TikTok, vabbing definitely works, with women claiming it’s gotten them dates, gifts, and even helped them close deals at work. But what about medical experts?
Dr. Sam Hay, otherwise known as Dr. Kiss, recently appeared on Australia’s #1 radio show to debunk claims that vabbing works, saying it’s “not going to be as powerful a bloke attractor as some ladies may think.”
So, in other words, the jury is still out on vabbing.
If you had solid evidence that vabbing works, would you do it?
