7 Aphrodisiac Foods to Rev up Your Libido

If you want to get down, twerk better, and seductively tease your partner, sultry music and aphrodisiacs will do the trick. Aphrodisiac foods can be the golden ticket when it comes to boosting your mood and reveling up your libido.

Typically, an aphrodisiac is any food or substance that increases your sexual performance, heightens your sexual desires, and arouses freaky sexual instincts. Numerous pharmaceutical drugs claim to manage sexual dysfunction in men and women, but they may work inferiorly or have disastrous side effects.

On the other hand, aphrodisiacs are generally natural products or foods with few side effects, making them much safer. Since ancient times, seven natural foods have been found to boost sexual desire and function.

1. Maca

Maca is a sweet root vegetable that was initially discovered and grown in Peru’s Andes region. Since ancient times, the plant has been helpful as a remedy for hot flashes and fertility arousal. In South America, residents use it as a natural remedy for boosting fertility, typically referred to as Peruvian Viagra.

The plant is closely related and classified as cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, and kale. According to research, the ancient sweet root vegetable significantly boosts libido and manages impotence in rodents. Although its efficacy in humans is inconclusive, there are claims that it can manage erectile dysfunction in men and menopausal women who are healthy.

Additionally, the plant may help manage sexual dysfunction that occurs due to the continued use of antidepressant drugs. However, it is paramount to note that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved or reviewed the use of maca as a dietary supplement.

2. Ginkgo Biloba

Ginkgo is an ancient herbal supplement derived from the Ginkgo Biloba tree. The supplement was used as part of Chinese medicine during ancient times to manage sexual impotence and depression.

Ginkgo is classified as an aphrodisiac as it may help increase blood circulation through the relaxation of blood vessels. The supplement increases the level of nitric oxide in your blood which is intrinsic in achieving an erection.

Ginkgo is well tolerated by most people but may work as a potent blood thinner. If you are already taking prescribed or self-medicated blood thinners, it is paramount to take this supplement with caution. Also, it can interact with certain medications such as ibuprofen, Xanax, or diabetes drugs.

3. Tribulus Terrestris

This flowering plant grows in tropical regions and dry climates. Tribulus is also referred to as bindii, goat’s head, or puncture vine and has been used as part of ancient Chinese medicine for years. The plant raises testosterone levels and boosts erections in rabbits.

In research involving castrated rats, the plant extract significantly improved sexual behavior and penile pressure. The researchers concluded that Tribulus had marked androgen-releasing properties, which positively affect sexual behavior in animals.

4. Oysters

Oysters are the primary source of zinc. Insufficient zinc levels in your body can cause erectile dysfunction. Research conducted in 2005 concluded that oysters also contain essential amino acids such as N-methyl-D-aspartate, which are necessary for stimulating testosterone production in rats.

Oysters significantly boost dopamine which helps to increase libido in humans. The supplement also contains high levels of serotonin and amino acids which promote pleasurable feelings. However, research is still inconclusive on how the supplements enhance sexual drive in humans.

5. ArginMax

ArginMax comes in two formulations, one specifically designed for men and another one for women. Each supplement contains amino acids, L-arginine, and vitamins essential for improving sexual function. The L-arginine compound contains nitric oxide, which increases blood flow and enhances the relaxation of blood vessels.

The formulations also have ginkgo, ginseng, and damiana to increase women’s sexual desire. According to research, the women’s formulation improves sexual wellness naturally and gently. On the other hand, the men’s formulation significantly improves sexual fitness.

6. Red Ginseng

Ginseng is a prevalent medicinal herb used by the Chinese community. Red ginseng is a unique species of ginseng plant that helps manage various conditions, such as sexual dysfunction and low libido in men and women.

According to a study, the supplement is effective in managing sexual impotence in menopausal women. However, the results are not conclusive and more research is required to support the supplement’s efficacy. In addition, there are claims that red ginseng may cause gastrointestinal issues, headaches, and constipation.

7. Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an aphrodisiac native to Western Asia and the Mediterranean. The supplement is often used to boost milk production in breastfeeding mothers, but some researchers claim that fenugreek can boost libido in men.

The herb contains essential compounds which can help your body to manufacture sex hormones. According to a study, a sample of men who consumed 600 mg extract of fenugreek daily for six weeks reported better and more refined orgasms. They also reported heightened sexual arousal.

Scientists added zinc, magnesium, and pyridoxine to increase the extract’s efficacy, essential in positive sexual behavior. The herb can also increase sexual arousal and desire in women. In addition, the extract is generally well-tolerated and does not cause any disastrous effects in humans.

However, it is essential to note that fenugreek can interact with other medications, such as blood-thinning drugs, and may lead to mild to severe gastrointestinal issues. The drug also interacts with cancer medications and should not be used together.

Prevalent Aphrodisiac Products with Little Scientific Evidence

Some popular plants and products are believed to have aphrodisiac properties, but there is little evidence to support those claims. Such products and supplements include:

  • Chocolate
  • Honey
  • Chasteberry
  • Hot chilies
  • Alcohol

If you’re having trouble getting down and dirty with your partner, the above aphrodisiac products can help. However, it’s essential to note that the supplements may interact with other pharmaceutical medications. Therefore, if you want to improve your sexual behavior and experience erotic arousal and frenzy orgasms, start using small doses and progressively increase your dosage depending on your tolerance levels.

The song reached the top 10 when it was released and, with immense amounts of intrigue, continues to be a song people think of when they think about sex.

What are some of your favorite “sexy time” songs?

The Power of Scent and Setting the Mood

Over the last few years, ASMR has gained a lot of attention as people began to think about the importance of sound as it relates to sex. Of course, it’s no secret that there’s a strong connection between sex and the five senses, including taste and smell. So now that sound has its day in the sun (or the bedroom!), let’s explore how olfactory elements can enhance your sex life as well.

Studies Have Shown Scent Is A Key Marketing Component

Have you ever walked into a store and sensed a vague smell of fresh oranges, even though the store sold furniture or cars and had nothing to do with produce? That’s because marketing experts have proven that the smell of fresh oranges is invigorating to consumers who might otherwise be tired by the time they enter the store. The right scent means more sales for them, and the right scent can also mean more dating success for you.

What Scents Work Best For Dating?

As usual, the answer is it depends. Reading dating profiles, chatting, and talking by phone before you meet may give you a lot of helpful hints, but here are some common examples and why they work:

Fresh Baked Cookies

Putting some cookie dough in the oven and opening the door with the scent of fresh cookies throughout your place increases many people’s appetite for a lot more than cookies. Add in the aphrodisiac effect of chocolate, and it’s easy to see why chocolate chip cookies usually work best.

Morning Citrus Awakens The Senses

Late-night booty calls can go awry if you’re too sleepy to enjoy them. Bright scents like Lemon or Lavender are excellent for adding some energy to the mood, so you don’t fall asleep during the fun.

Cinnamon

Many people subconsciously equate the scent of cinnamon with erotic memories. However, just having some drifting through the air at your place may bring out the more adventurous side of any lover you play with.

Ginger

Ingesting ginger can stimulate the circulatory system, and some believe that even the scent of ginger can have a similar effect, which is excellent for sexual stamina.

Sandalwood

Often considered one of the most masculine scents, sandalwood does a great job setting the tone and letting your partner know you plan to take charge. A simple scent in a room can do so much to communicate your sexual intentions, and sandalwood is a prime example of that.

Leather

Unlike a lot of other scents, leather is a fetish in its own right. Many people can get completely turned on or even reach orgasm just from the unique sense memories that only leather can bring.

Perfumes and Colognes In Moderation

Let’s be honest. Nobody wants to walk into your apartment and feel like they’re swimming through a never-ending wall of your Drakkar cologne. On the other hand, personal scents from perfumes and colognes can be great aphrodisiacs, and they are also a way to plant future memories in your lover’s mind because the next time they smell your scent, it’s likely they will think of you. Just be sure to use any scent in moderation. Use just enough to be noticed, but not so much that it overpowers the mood.

A Word About Candles

You might think that you have precisely the right scent to set the mood for your next date, but how would you be able to transport it to your apartment, and where would you put a huge pine tree even if you had time to acquire one? The easy answer is scented candles! Avoid using chemical air fresheners and go with a much more romantic scented candle that provides warm light as well as the fragrance you find most appealing.

There’s Always Gwyneth Paltrow’s Vagina

If you have gone through the library of scented candles and still haven’t come up with the perfect scent for your sexual encounter, consider Gwyneth Paltrow’s Vagina! That’s right, the Academy Award-winning actress famously released a series of scented candles unlike the ones you’ll find at Yankee Candle, and by far, her most famous is a candle she claims has the same scent as her vagina. So even if you and your new partner aren’t fans of hers, it serves as a quality conversation starter, and in some small way, banging your new beauty next to her candle is almost like having a threesome with Gwyneth herself!

A Bad Smell Is The Best Example

If you think all this talk about choosing a pleasing scent is just hyperbole, here is an easy mental exercise that proves the point. Think of the worst thing you have ever smelled. Was it a backed-up toilet? Perhaps it was a trip to the garbage dump? Did some weird-looking guy who insisted on sitting next to you on the bus stink in a memorable way? Now that you have that sense of memory in your mind, are you feeling sexy? Of course not, and if you imagine having sex with that stench present, you’ll quickly agree that the way the room and your lover smell matters quite a bit.

A Final Word On Making Sense of Sexual Scents

Scent, much like all the other senses, is a very personal and intimate way to create a signature in someone else’s mind. Choosing something others aren’t using that is tied to your sensibilities can often heighten the first date or turn a casual encounter into something more. The most important thing to keep in mind is that these sorts of things matter and taking the time to find the right scent for yourself and your place shows you are the kind of thoughtful lover who takes the pleasure of others seriously. That sets the tone and often brings out the best in each person you choose to be with.

What kind of scents turn you on the most?

How Women Can Achieve Orgasms Without Penetration

There are many ways to achieve orgasm, which for women can include clitoral, vaginal, anal, and combination orgasms. Each can deliver a unique experience and intensity, moving through the body in different ways. Women can also orgasm without penetration, thanks to the numerous erogenous zones found throughout the body. While the clit is arguably the most obvious zone, it can also include the ears, nipples, neck, elbows, and knees, among other body parts.

Each of these places can have pleasurable reactions when they are touched, kissed, and played with. For more sensitive people, continuous play can lead to orgasm. There are also ways to focus on these erogenous zones, increasing the likelihood that orgasm will occur. There are many different personalities regarding sex, and how you approach achieving the best orgasm without penetration can vary from one person to the next.

General Strategies For Orgasm Without Penetration

One way women can orgasm without penetration is through the clitoris. Outside of the clitoris, however, there are many other ways to make orgasms happen. For example, to achieve a combo orgasm, people can use clitoral stimulation and stimulation in other erogenous zones. This action can cause a person’s mind to go back and forth from the pleasure they are feeling in one part of their body to the pleasure they are feeling in another. There are also erogenous zone-only orgasms, which are achieved exclusively through a lot of experimentation with a partner. While some are sensitive enough and know how to instruct partners on how to help them orgasm without penetration or clitoral stimulation, it is still rare.

Orgasms stemming from erogenous zones can take time, even for someone with experience. They are never an expectation, though, as they can only happen with awareness, understanding, and exploration. For example, some can orgasm from a kiss on the neck, teeth on their nipples, or fingers on the inside of their elbows. One of the best ways to find erogenous zones is to use a feather or other light external object and note where the best and worst sensations are felt. Some people have an aversion to being touched on certain parts of their body, so talking about sexual exploration with your partner is essential.

Communication Is Key

Communication is an essential part of orgasming without penetration. Talk to the other person about your limits, boundaries, wants, and desires. Explore these things and talk about different areas of the body that you would like to explore with your partner.

Talking about what you want and how and where you want it done is the best way to ensure maximum pleasure. Talking about where you want to explore and what you’d like to do in the future, including areas of the body where you think you might be able to orgasm without penetration, is also a good plan. Many women can orgasm with their clitoris and know how they like to be touched there to orgasm. It is the other erogenous zones that are a little trickier.

If your regular sexual routines are not getting you off, experimenting with touching new areas at different times is a great step toward having harder orgasms. Some women, for example, get off while giving other people pleasure, including when giving oral sex. Others love a combination of head scratches and nipple stimulation.

You and your partners can always start slow, exploring different feelings and sensations together. Communicate about whether you’d be open to trying BDSM and what types of BDSM you’d like to try. Clitoral stimulation, along with spanking and other fetishes, can lead to some of the most intense orgasms. Everybody experiences orgasms and sex in different ways. Sex does not come with a manual, so explore in the moment and communicate.

The Stages to Orgasm

There are multiple stages when it comes to sexual response. These include excitement, plateau, orgasm, and resolution. Masters and Johnson wrote a book detailing all of these, but the basics are a great place to start and are, in many cases, enough. The first stage is excitement when a person is initially being turned on. Plateau is the repetitive motion that feels pleasurable, while orgasm is the burst of pleasure and the release of this pleasure.

The refractory period is known as the resolution. While this is too general in some ways, and the stages can cross over, it is a fantastic starting point. One of the inaccuracies, however, is vital to address. Sex does not always end in orgasm; there are many ways to have sex that are pleasurable, amazing, and intense without orgasm. In addition, suggesting that sex ends in orgasm may deny some women orgasms by expressing that sex stops when a male partner finishes. Also, take note that orgasms do not mean sex is great.

Defining Orgasm

Orgasms can be small, big, and can happen multiple times in a row or just once, and it is also okay if they don’t happen at all. Rather than defining the orgasms by someone else’s description, describe them using your own. This can help you avoid shorting yourself pleasure. A calm clitoral orgasm can be mind-blowing, and your partner’s ejaculation can be exciting. Combo orgasms can be fun, and there are many other descriptive words that people can use to describe the different types of orgasms. Every person’s body is different, so orgasms are different as well. However, the path to fantastic orgasms almost always involves communicating, experimenting, and trying again.

The Many Different Paths To Alternative Orgasms

There are many different ways to achieve orgasm, and each person is unique in what they enjoy. For example, some people love watching sex, whether on a screen or live in person. The live member webcams here on Adult FriendFinder are one great example.

Rubbing orgasms, including rubbing on the clit and dry humping, is another way people can orgasm without penetration. Being fully clothed and rubbing up on things can arouse, tickle, tease, and be very intense.

Some people also have orgasms in their sleep, and while this is not an active motion, it is worth mentioning as a type of orgasm that does not have penetration. Others can orgasm specifically by hearing erotic words, sensual sounds, or otherwise. ASMR is also the cause of many intense orgasms; sometimes, people using it can have orgasms without penetration and touch.

Tickling is a fetish that leads to some of the hardest orgasms for some, and you don’t need an intense tickle session with a partner to have a tickle orgasm. Sometimes people’s sensitivity allows them to be aroused with hands, breaths, and various tickling tools for a calm orgasm from tickling.

Many people also have orgasms from sensations on their necks or ears. In many cases, these types of orgasms and nipple orgasms involve a person fixating on the sensations moving through their entire body. Hair is another orgasm type that fits in this category, with different speeds and sensations that can come from squeezing, pulling, scratching, petting, and more.

You can combine these techniques for a blended orgasm, which is an orgasm that uses multiple strategies to reach climax simultaneously. You can use these to achieve orgasms without penetration, give your partner orgasms without penetration, or combine these strategies with penetration to give intense orgasms. They are just a few of the many erogenous zones and orgasm strategies to discuss with your partner. Enjoy!

How People with Disabilities Can Live Satisfying Sexual Lives

Approximately one billion people, or 15% of the population worldwide, live with some form of disability. On average, people with disabilities are more likely to face adverse social, physical, economic, and sexual disadvantages than people without disabilities.

About Disability and Sexuality

Sadly, the topic of sexuality and disability is taboo for many people without disabilities. They rarely discuss the issue, and consequently, approximately 50% of people with disabilities don’t have a regular sex life.

Research shows that few caregivers have reservations about helping a person with disabilities in the bathroom. However, many are apprehensive about giving advice or supporting people with disabilities in the bedroom.

Despite this being rampant, the truth is that the sex lives of people with disabilities are an issue that requires attention. Unfortunately, their need for assistance to lead satisfying sex lives continues to be disregarded, dismissed, or sidestepped as part of holistic care. It could be attributed to a longstanding stigma that surrounds disability and sex.

People with disabilities are sexual beings with sexual feelings, desires, thoughts, attitudes, and fantasies. Having a physical or intellectual disability doesn’t change their sexuality and desire to express it. According to the World Health Organization, sexuality is a basic human need inseparable from life’s other aspects.

Concerns About Disability and Sexuality

Disability impairs the physical ability to engage in regular sex life, strips individuals of confidence, and increases their worry levels about having sex. They have various concerns about sex, including:

  • Finding a partner
  • Whether the partner finds them attractive
  • Lack of confidence about their sexual performance or ability
  • Less desire and energy for sex
  • Whether they can have children
  • How their body moves or works
  • Fear of what other people will think and the fear of facing discrimination.
  • Concern about pain during sexual activity

These concerns may create frustration about the effects of disability on sexuality. If the concerns are overwhelming, it’s advisable to talk to a healthcare professional for relationship counseling or support for their sexuality.

Navigating Sex with a Disability

Support and information are available for people with disabilities who need help developing relationships and exploring their sexuality. In addition, healthcare professionals are making embryonic efforts to build manuals and tools to help people with disabilities satisfy their sexual needs.

For example, the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority released guidelines for “Supporting Sexual Health and Intimacy in Care Facilities.” They outline that care facilities have a legal and ethical obligation to recognize, respect, and support clients’ sexual lives.

The United States Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine also released similar guidelines. As a result, healthcare professionals have a mandate to deal with disability and sexuality openly and proactively.

Some practical solutions to enhancing the sex lives of people with disabilities include:

Care Providers

Many people with disabilities need a part-time or full-time caregiver. Care providers should assist them in getting into a position to have sex, clean them up before and after, and monitor them somehow. Understandably, this can create some fine lines of comfort levels, boundaries, and consent, especially when the person is verbally challenged.

Care providers should drop their judgments and preconceived notions of sex about who and how to have it. This way, they’ll better be able to support their clients to have the best sex and quality of life as a whole.

Sex Workers

There are growing movements worldwide that focus on connecting sex workers with people with disabilities to make the services more accessible. An example is Touching Base, an Australian organization that focuses on access, human rights, discrimination, and legal issues affecting marginalized communities.

Connecting sexual workers with people with disabilities is a double-edged sword, seeing that both communities face certain discrimination sets. However, by bridging this gap, people with disabilities can experience and explore their sexuality. It also helps destigmatize sex workers, painting them as valuable members of society.

In countries where sex work is legal, sex services provided to people with disabilities are a necessary means of support. Some special programs or grants may even fund the programs.

Technology

Technology is an incredible convenience in people’s lives. In sex issues, sex tech or sex toys can mean the difference between having a sex life and not. The market is awash with many sex tools designed to satisfy people who use them. They come in handy for people with disabilities who may not have the ability to thrust, cannot maintain an erection, or have limited dexterity.

Such tools include vibrating cushions, remote-controlled vibrators, wedge pillows, masturbation sleeves, and harnesses. They bring pleasure to the user’s sex life, especially those with a disability.

Sex Surrogates

Sex surrogates are professionally trained sexual partners that practice intimate physical contact with clients for payment. If necessary, the contact includes penetration to help clients work through the sexual problems that hinder them from having a productive sex life.

A psychotherapist supports the process to help the client address past sexual issues affecting the client. These include toxic relationships, sexual abuse, or trauma associated with a difficult birth. Other clients may be adult virgins or lack confidence because of their physical appearance.

Sexual surrogacy works because it addresses issues other therapies can’t, as its scope is broad and goes beyond sexual intercourse.

Sex Education

Many people and places overlook the importance of sex education for people with disabilities. The curriculum usually doesn’t include the topic, especially in special education classes.

This creates a problem, especially for those who want to explore their sexual desires but don’t have the information or tools to do it. Basic anatomy and how to navigate safe sexual boundaries are essential topics they need to learn.

Final Thoughts

The above types of interventions can help normalize sexuality for people with disabilities. They also open the floor to talk about normalizing sex beyond the general narrative of the penis and vagina.

Sex can look and feel different for everyone, and the most important thing is to find ways to experience pleasure while having more accessible sex. Adult FriendFinder provides more resources on how people with disabilities can enjoy sex as much as people without disabilities. Visit the Member Advice Lines for more insights.

Opinion: Massage Therapists Aren’t Sex Workers

Last year was a difficult one for many sports teams and their fans. Cardboard cutouts packed the stands at most NFL football games in place of real fans, and there was a much lower sense of enthusiasm as people were more focused on overcoming the pandemic than they were on their favorite sports teams. Still, it’s fair to say no team has had a more challenging time than the Houston Texans recently.

First, they traded away their best wide receiver and got virtually nothing for him in return. Then their Coach and General Manager was fired, and in what many fans expected to think would be the worst moment of all, the best player in franchise history, J.J. Watt, demanded to be traded elsewhere. However, things got a whole lot worse as the team’s star Quarterback Deshaun Watson, amid trade rumors himself, found a way to get himself accused by dozens of massage therapists for a variety of lewd, sexual harassment events that allegedly took place during his recent massage sessions.

Let’s be clear; there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a great massage. On a physical, emotional, and spiritual level, the expert touch of a properly trained and licensed massage therapist, can enhance human health.

What seems to be somewhat confusing to people like Deshaun Watson is that massage also has a long, less puritanical history that extends from the intimacy of couples massaging each other during foreplay to sex workers using forms of Nuru massage as a sort of appetizer that leads to other activities outside the scope of anything a licensed therapist might do. There is no excuse for the confusion, though, because as with any act of sex, everyone involved should also make consent the primary focus. There’s no harm in asking an adult if they want to engage in sexual activity as long as you respect their decision.

Had Deshaun Watson looked up from the massage table and said something like, “If you want to stick to massage only that’s totally fine, but if you want to do more than that be sure to let me know,” he could have determined if any of his therapists were interested in sexual contact. While it’s true that almost every therapist would have flatly rejected his question, as most licensed massage therapists never engage in sexual activity with their clients, there would have been no harm in asking.

Instead, Mr. Watson allegedly showed off his penis, attempted to grope at the therapists, and was not quick to take no for an answer. His behavior has led to dozens of lawsuits and could eventually lead to significant prison time and the end of his sports career. It’s already cost him lucrative contracts, and endorsement deals as sponsors wait for the ongoing allegations to unfold completely.

If you live in an area where legal sex work is prohibited, you’re left to seek out non-professional masseuses capable of giving a great massage, and if that’s something you see, it is worth mentioning on your dating profile. Likewise, if you enjoy giving a great massage and like to go even further than a professional therapist would, that can make you very popular in dating circles.

“I give a great massage, and I especially enjoy the build-up toward the happy ending you have always wanted to experience” won’t guarantee you dozens of dates, but it certainly will help you find plenty of people who could benefit from your loving touch.

The public, and especially celebrities, may see sex workers as something to be avoided, and while Adult FriendFinder doesn’t share that point of view, we understand the need to abide by the law. On an ethical level, we firmly believe every sexual interaction should always begin with consent.

Whether it’s massage, BDSM roleplay, or anything else adults want to explore together, it’s only acceptable if all adults involved fully consent at each step along the way from sexy start to sticky finish. That means if you and your cohort of lovely playmates want to arrange a group massage party, you need to make sure all participants are fully aware of what’s about to happen and are into it voluntarily. Even if they start by wanting a hot oil body rub and change their mind just as things start to heat up, the activity needs to end the moment they rescind consent.

Excellent communication is always a part of great sex, and for someone who plays QB in the NFL, calling signals in the huddle and trying to keep ten other players on the same page strategically, one would think communication would be easy for someone like Watson.

Seriously, it has to be a lot easier to say “do you want to do more than massage me” than it is to learn an NFL playbook full of coded offensive plays like “X Right Z Split 32 Hustle” so you can call those plays effectively for ten other players while thousands of fans shout in your ears and a defense tries to prevent you from succeeding.

No matter what kind of massage Deshaun Watson was supposed to get, there was no defense, crowd noise, or outside distraction there to prevent him from getting the message through to his therapist politely that what he wanted all along was a handjob or more.

Since most massage rooms don’t come with their own referee and defensive linemen to keep customers in the pocket, communication is vital to ensure everyone gets what they expect out of the experience.
